Located on Section 5, Chenggong Road, Neihu District, the Dahu Park is a regional park built in 1979 in Chinese-style garden. With a space of over 13 hectares, the park neighbors Mt. Bailu and overlooks Mt. Wuzhi and Mt. Zhongyong. The lake in the park cover an area of about 10 hectares, so it is named Dahu (meaning big lake), and it is also known as Bailu Lake because of egrets gathering.
It runs along the mountainside and a zigzag coast. When taking the Taipei Metro Wenhu Line, one can see sunshine glittering from the lake surface and the “Moon Bridge” looking like a pendant rainbow. When mist floats across the mountain in spring, and willows caress the lake, the hazy atmosphere of the mountain and the shimmering light of the lake are the picture in the eyes. When taking a break in the kiosk, it’s ideal to enjoy the vista or relax. The wonder of the constantly changing clouds and water reflections refreshes the mind and body. When mist and drizzle diffuse in the air between summer and autumn, the lakeview is like an artwork of nature as posted in Le Monde of France in May 2012.
In appearance, the swimming pool of Dahu Park built in the style of an earth-covered landscape is not just a green building that can reduce radiant heat for energy conservation, the observation deck designed on the roof also enables visitors to enjoy the wonder of the lake from different angles. In addition, man-made floating islands design is another feature of the Dahu Park. The floating islands provide foraging and nesting habitats for birds such as egrets and teals. It is an ideal palce for various aquatic insects and fish to lay eggs, forage, and shelter.
The lakeside trail in the park is flat and comfortable to walk. It also twists a bit and penetrates the wood. This is the major venue for morning exercise of local residents. The big lawn in front of the bald cypress is the ideal picnic site of many visitors on holidays. Besides the lake and mountain views, absorbing the forest essence of the bald cypress, and enjoying the fragrance of the grass, angling and picnicking are allowed in the park. Alongside hiking in the nearby mountainside, the park is a wonderful spot for a half-day or one-day leisure tour.
